Image description In April 2016 we visited Krakau in Poland. The main reason for this short break was a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau. And although it is not the most plesant place to visit, it was very impressive. It is good that those very dark pages of European history are kept "alive" in the museum and the surroundings.

Next to that visit we booked a tour in the Wieliczka salt mines. There also were impressive things to see, like a chapel and many statues. Even the chandeliers in the various chambers were made of salt.

Next to those visits we strawled in Krakau itself, it has a nice historical centre and a great palace. Krakau is also full of good restaurants and bars, so there is no need to suffer of hunger or thirst.
