At a quarter to seven in the morning we went by car to Schiphol. Patrick we have taken away and this time we arrived at the airport without any problems. Except that Piet all week pain in his back and thus the trip to Amsterdam lying on the backseat made. The whole week he had trouble move, so that would be a bit of a flight 12 hours ahead, yet apart from the step of about 10 hours and the subsequent flight of about two-and-half hours. Piet looked so awful against the vacation and had even ended Thursday the idea is still the whole holiday but to cancel. First off, but with three of coffee and said goodbye. Then we in another departure went through customs, where we actually had been terribly busy in the other hall less. Behind the customs together and drank a little walk around the shops, all known so it is actually a bit boring. We had plenty of time because we are early in had gone home, not surprising: the experience of recent years dared we rely on a tight schedule to keep. When we arrived at the gate we were already right through the security check, people were even at the boarding, so it went all very smooth. Still needed We wait in the plane, there was a passenger does not show up. When she omriepen finally on the plane that all luggage had to back out or her suitcases to load sir turn came. All in all we could in the meantime see that Singapore Airlines to its name, nice big chairs and each its own TV screen with a variety of movies, TV shows, games and even language courses. You also had its own remote control that occasionally a private life led Piet was almost injured. After more than enough food and beverages (including a nice Chardonnay with dinner), sometimes a little nap and the discovery of Piet reading glasses on the floor and had fallen by a fellow passenger to the flight was given (once he gets there is a really lost) we arrived at Changi Airport in Singapore. As the clock was six hours on and we were so as in a new day, so it is very hard. We are equal to the hotel gone to a few hours to rest, but it was fully booked and only came to ten one bedroom Fri There's not much you obviously if you to one hour back out on your next flight. We later ended up in the Premier Lounge where they have a sort of dormitory. There are there a dozen beds, all apart and separated by a folding screen with a light and an alarm clock. After the employee told us there had woken at half past twelve and wanted to be our own alarm and the Lounge we were going to put sleep. We both enjoy a few hours sleep, although twice as expensive as in the hotel, but his back pain Piet was not an option in a chair around to hang, let alone a city tour or something like that. Thus equipped we started the final leg of our journey, the flight by Silk Air Mataram on Lombok. This trip we spent the next Ineke, one of our companions. Of course it took Customs back very long, but even there we get to zachtjesaan accustomed also ran just fine. Our tour guide Bart was already on us waiting when we came out of the arrivals. The bus was there, so we could pretty Lombok Raya hotel visit, a great hotel. Maybe something more luxurious than the normal Baobab standard, but especially after a long journey not a luxury. That regulates Baobab or very good. We had no money exchanged at the airport because Bart said he was in the hotel one man had arranged with a good rate. We therefore after check € 800.00 first but once changed. € 1.00 is Rp. 11,000 and everything, but even then we decide to count as Rp. 10000.00 equal to € 1.00, which is easy and delicious charges not to post. Angelique go there, we stopped spinning, then a part of the group eat, the others went to bed early. Except Roel and Trudy, she went with acquaintances who live in Indonesia eat. The food at the restaurant across the street from the hotel was nice and cheap, Here we did the same but the first of many bottles next Bintang (dingin, ie cold). "Unfortunately," they were only 620 ml, a bit worry after the big boys last year. It was quite right that the drink be much higher than that of the food. We would in the coming weeks more often (almost always) suffer. delicious slept.

Sunday, July 17

After a delicious breakfast of Indonesian nasi goreng and mie supplemented by a Spanish omelette we proceeded on our way to Gili Meno, an island off the coast of Lombok for our first beach / relaxing stop. The first area we went by bus. Halfway to the boat had stopped the bus with a broken fan belt. That gave us the opportunity to visit a local market. Many vegetables and herbs and strange fruit, but fortunately water and bananas. The banana did have some confusion, the lady kept saying "one thousand", but referred to two thousand. Not bad, was ever two dimes for five banana. When we return after half an hour came to the bus was that we could now gefixed and again. A little further we stopped at a spot along the road were some monkeys. Like, they were not aggressive and took care of pretty pictures. Arriving at the beach we had a short walk and went to Bart two boats. Once it was decided that our boat would go over there were two men behind Piet who lifted him and put in the boat. Handy to keep your feet dry, but quite a shock when you least expect it. We were a small outrigger canoe with our hour away before we came across, but the water was calm, the temperature well and the company pleasant. Arriving at our hotel (this time not supported, so a soaking wet pants) there was also a group of the Monkey King to sit and there were two little rooms. Whether two sets in another hotel to sleep, it was a bit further, but even more luxurious. No objection is, Roel and Trudy and we thought it was fine. After lunch we ate at the hotel we went to our hotel room retired, have some sleep and read. For four hours we searched the beach as Sun Unfortunately for almost from the beach road, a little bit after. Since I did just to lie down while Piet went snorkeling. Then take showered (too bad that only one crane is) and walk to dinner. It is all very very relaxed. We arrived at a restaurant where the only free table was still occupied, Roel and Trudy were just here to find out their fish. They invited us to slide and we went. Later on Ineke addition. We have a terribly high bar for two eliminated, price or Rp. 65,000 (€ 6.50) after bargaining, of course, it remains a strange country. After dinner together we have a nightcap in the hotel where we did not nice to sleep and then went to our bungalow in our king size bed sleep. First with the fan, turned away from the bed. Piet was at half past two up and drove him, but disabled. Sleep very well, we are here really lazy.

Monday, July 18

Sleeping out till after nine hours, we were awakened by the neighbors, but were already nice dozing. In our own hotel had breakfast while the majority of The group already has had finished breakfast and were preparing to go snorkeling. After breakfast relax on the beach located on a lounger. There are some vendors along, but most have to bear. A salesman chains was very annoying because I was even a little angry because he keeps lied about the price. After equipping? an attempt to snorkel from the beach, but the current was too strong and there was almost no visibility. It was therefore not really worth it. After lunch, back in our own restaurant (nice and convenient with drinks in the room taking it), we went to the other side of the walked to an island where beer. Despite all the stories was a walk a whole quarter. Once there we did what we really had made the trip: a beer. Via a different route, we went back to our hotel to the group BBQ. Was very well looked after, everything was already done, we did it alone but to scoop and eat. The food was nice, chatting with the group, So the evening we are again. After dinner we took a part the group to do a nightcap in the Jungle Bar.

Tuesday, July 19

At the time we left for our trip to the next hotel in Tetebatu. Well at leave time in this journey is not so intense, at half past seven when we leave that early this time. First we made a stop in Sengiggi for postcards, internet and coffee. We toasted a Gertjan terrace with coffee, I took a special, which is very nice. Piet and Gert names cappuccino, which was nice. After this stop we drove to the temple complex of Lingsar, where we and guided. Before we could enter the temple we had, besides decently dressed, even for a belly belt, a band to cover the navel. That was even if your belly button was not visible through the rest of your clothes. The guide told us much about the origins of complex and even bought three hard boiled eggs to the sacred eel lure. Before we were trying we saw a small ceremony. Piet wanted to take pictures at the side, but stepped right into an open pit. Fortunately that went well, he has not had much luck this holiday with his limbs. Then the sacred eels. Despite frantic efforts our guide and other Indonesian tourists remained seated where they were. We were also still on a small ritual site was busy eating a Mrs. cook for the priests. We got a taste of dried and fried squid. I sometimes try everything, but this was something I should not have done: filthy with capital letters. Big girl, lick box and flush with water. The subsequent tour brought us to a shop where we homemade rice wine could sample (and of course buy). This variant is called bhrum and looks like Coebergh. It tastes a little different, but we still took a bottle home. After saying goodbye to our guide, we ate lunch at the Royal Gardens, just a rice table with different dishes, nothing wrong with that. Cold beer there and everything will be fine. Again we had another tour that explains the different basins and plants. After the tour again to our final destination for the day, hotel Wisma Soedjono in Tetebatu. The hotel consists of several blocks of two rooms with a terrace across the hotel grounds. We were just about the last block, but had a terribly hot tub with water, so nice and definitely for the back of Piet. All very annoying was that the mattress of the bed terrible was soft, definitely not good for the back of Piet. If he has no bothered them, he would go get the mattress. It is less but is still here. For evening arranged a Bart buffet. When the drinks were included, we were the first to turn when But the beer was served we were last and we got warm beer. Fortunately, the waiter said that and we could say no. Ten minutes later he again, but now with two open bottles of beer. That was lukewarm, and we have so returned. As the waiter was not amused. We really laughed certainly when Bart and Piet bought the rice wine went out and everyone soldier was made. Piet has the bad mattress but three hours slept here we must do something, we have two nights here.

Wednesday, July 20

Breakfast was at 07.15 hours, we go walking. Before we left, we and some fellow travelers sought and obtained a different mattress. That would certainly be better the next night. Our first real walk forward us first through the rice fields where the rural scene was very very idyllic, but also showed that the population was hard work. You would also not say they were humored their work in the mud of the fields to do. The last part of the walk went through several villages, but also by many tobacco fields. Here too, between cake and although I had been afraid in a sawa ending up the slippery cake was done by the fall finally a dry piece. It was all that bad, a little valance of a small little wall. Tobacco fields are also good places pee when a water stop is held. You should certainly enough to drink with the corollary that you are diuretics, anyway?. In the villages we were warmly welcomed by the many dogs barking, crying children and people waving. When was the last village on the bus back to us waiting for us, the weaving village Pringgasela brought. Since we first lunch and then a guided tour. We have all been given any aspects of weaving, dyeing and otherwise complete with preparation of the wires which was woven. Weaving can be very complex, with complicated patterns, but also simply right-to-earth to. We were also explains the various weaving techniques and how the village was established. They are a corporation, first with interference from local authorities. That they at one point worked out, there was only bothered corruption. The proceeds of the weavers are therefore for the corporation of which everyone is a member. They offer a reasonable price for the woven work and a weaver can decide how much he or she wants to earn, that is because it depends on the amount and the complexity of the fabric that is offered. UNICEF has also helped a little to the village in the elevator to get it have funded a number of wells, so that the living conditions are better were. After the tour we got a cup of coffee and coffee shop was opened. They are quite nice stuff, but I really do not know what to do with them. Then we took the bus back to the hotel. After freshening up here have been we like walked towards the village, we had no desire to return to the hotel to eat. The Planet in hand we ran good and we passed a restaurant called Pondok, we were the only ones, but they sit chatting with waiter. He said there no longer existed a number of small hotels. We have registered so we can pass on to the editor of Lonely Planet. We ate a delicious chicken curry, delicious at ease. Back at the hotel we first restaurant in a separate table for the rest of the postcards and wrote the diary. Then we have joined the group at the long table and have some drinks together. We really up to half past eleven "sagging" with Ron and Ans.

Thursday, July 21

We again had breakfast at the same time as yesterday. We are going to walk half to near Tetebatu. Again we went to the rice fields, road we got information about various herbs and trees. The joke is that when they actually seeing and the guide and so is reaping the fruits, it is still surprising how herbs and spices grow. After the rice fields we came along and of course also by villages. We were given the same warm reception as the previous day. It remains nice to the locals to be addressed. One of the goals of the walk was a huge waterfall in a park when we the park we had arrived about half an hour walk. Halfway Piet saw a monkey in a tree far away. Initially, the monkey just to hear So it took some time before he was found. We have just seen him, but it was a beautiful man with a silver pieces in his own skin, so probably not so young any more. After we walked through the park were us to the goal of this walk: a large waterfall. I am finally do not go climbing, it has been climbing too much for something I (and the rest of the group) it would only look. I found watching from a distance could also, so saved myself a probable fall from the rocks. After the retreat to the bus, this time without the monkey, we are going our own hotel food. The lunch was followed by a short rest (it's still a relaxed way). Then we went with the group to a village a bit further to traditional dances look. The dances were performed by villagers in a small theater. We were welcomed with music, but which certainly was very special, was that the whole village also walked out to watch. We were not the only audience, although we were the only tourists, so for us it was staged. The performance was well, we were introduced to various dance and you could see the dancers had great fun. Of course "allowed" in the end we also reinstated, Piet with joy, he at least had a lot of success. Eventually it was of course nice. When the show was over the local kids still have Tini entertained with bubbles. En route to the hotel we dropped off our village, we were again like eating together. For dinner we first visited a tobacco smoke as During our walk we came along and I thought it was a good idea to have a to see how well it works. We could take pictures and like everywhere found the people's own picture is very funny. Good to make contact, about digital camera. When we had found a nice restaurant there but we settled down, even though nobody Sat It was a good tip from the Planet, so we would see. First of course we asked for a cold beer and this was also regulated. First went a man on a motorcycle. He came back with a box Bintang on the tank and did not so hard, he just drove into the restaurant. With horror we saw that a full box and probably not cold, but he said We do not worry, it would be all right, and he was gone again. When he came back he had a crate of Bintang with him, but found it to be cold, so end it was all fine. A little while later, there are three bunch within the Czech Republic. They said that this was the best restaurant in the village, we did not choose wrong. Later there was a couple inside, we thought English, but could not really understand and they were sitting as if they do not contact wanted, so we have not even tried. We had a delicious dinner. After checkout a global amount of weather we walked back to the hotel. Road was very dark, since they had nothing to do with lampposts. Arrived at the hotel we paid the total bill. After inspection showed that there even the lukewarm beers that we had been returned. When I saw that I I checked all the receipts and found four beers and a coke too much to stand. We did a few afzakkertjes and lay in bed on time, so for eleven hours. The next day we had at half past five, maybe it is still something.

Friday, July 22

We are already one week on the road and we feel very much at home of course. To seven hours we went to the port of Lombok to the crossing there to Sumbawa to relax, a nice cup of coffee on board and sit in the sun read, some people were even massaged. It all went very smoothly until it seemed that our boat, the shore of Sumbawa already in sight, right another ferry food. Then there are just shot through me that in this region of the world has a lot of accidents happen to ferry and asked myself wondering if I could swim very well end. I never saw Piet and I wondered if I had to seek him, but could only look at the direction of travel. Luckily it was only a step on a few passengers (Piet stood up a lower deck and saw that all of it coming). When we were almost there, I had some water purchased and paid for the coffee this morning that they had not settled because they could not recover from Rp 10,000. Upon arrival, we drove straight to our final destination a hotel Kencana Beach few kilometers from Sumbawa Besar, the way we stopped at a roadside restaurant for Soto Ayam (chicken soup with rice) and cola. Once she had turned on the fans were the flies quickly away from the tables. The food tasted fine, but took a here, even though Bart had the choice a bit limited because of the cooking and serving time. Then go to the center of Sumbawa Besar where we had time as bananas, post cards and internet. Complete with bus we went to the other side. The cruise was When everybody was back on time at the bus we went to our hotel. It was a bit further out of town as we had hoped, it ended almost 15 km to be not to do to go the next day we walk. Arrived at the hotel proved very beautiful, with every one of their own bungalow on stilts. Hotel also features a nice restaurant and beachfront, it is also very clean, each including the day swept grass. The bungalows are very nice decorated, but unfortunately a button on the shower. It went, but still not very good. In the restaurant we had dinner. We went to half past ten direction to bed as usual in this holiday last. We have very sleep well.

Saturday, July 23

We slept for eight hours and then leisurely dinner with Olivier and Debbie. Then we went into the great adventure: to the city by public transport. The first piece was not that bad: a short walk to the road, which could not wrong. My experience with public transport in the Netherlands, made us decide the first best to take the bus came along. Upon boarding, we were all friendly receive and pay only when we had just about getting out. The seats had a small bench and a tire on the ground, but nevertheless we enjoyed not less. We were taken to the central bus station and there uitgedirigeerd. There were enough people who wanted to help us, but lasted it took several minutes until there was someone who could understand us and therefore understood what we wanted. Then it went pretty fast, we were taken to a bemo (yellow bus) piloted, This would bring us to the center. because the bus was still one kilometer and five from the center where we wanted to be. The whole trip cost for both of us Rp 9,000 or so that had to do it, at least a lot better than Netherlands where you give a person three times from home to downtown. Arrived at the center we first went to the New Palace, where we were not, it had become a government building. We do have the ugly plastic palm (green and yellow) to admire. How they invent it. When I was at the site of the New Palace is the Indonesian name of the Yellow House showed (in the Planet), a driver was so kind to point the way. Even road as he drove past us, he gave instructions. Arrived at the Yellow House there were a couple of schoolgirls, but there was nothing to see. As we left one of the girls asked if we tour wanted, the owner had just come home. For a tour, we natuurlik always. The owner appeared to be the son of the last sultan to be and he proudly showed us around by all his treasures. Many old things from the Sultan's palace, including a sword as the Sultan of the VOC had received. But just as he proudly showed the pictures of his young wife and the princess of promotion from seeing his children. We have spent a very pleasant hour and were even have tea with homemade cookies. A donation was also on his place. After our visit we went to the old wooden palace went Sultan. The only thing stood was an old wooden throne, you could see that with the restoration process were, but the question is how long it will take. Stopped by the market and it shows again the value of a digital camera. You can anyone who asks simply on the photo. We are the motorcycle taxi to the hotel returned. Piet tried some of the price pick (pin, it was only Rp 5,000. pp). Mine was really quiet, but Piet really had a monster hit race, he was already waiting for me When I arrived at the hotel. In the hotel for lunch and then some snorkeling, so relax. In the evening we have dinner with Angela and sit chatting, very nice So. To bed on time.

Sunday, July 24

Our first really long day. We left for seven hours and have only a few things done on the road. First some tea in a tent and go Then we got off to a fishing village to run. That proved the wisdom of Bart, he let us go for a walk even if it took one hour longer than planned. We had a great run and so countless pictures of people and small children and animals including a turtle who was very proud upheld by a fisherman. We arrived at a point even with a few men who were making little devil, just to hand. First the sticks a bit and then cut to size, they were a big hit by a metal stencil beaten for the correct size. Our hike was also one hour lunch leaves. But nevertheless He was fine, just getting back into a local tent. Before we arrived the destination Bima we have visited a zoutwinnerij. The hotel was in the Lonely Planet La'mbitu the best in town, and will too. Because we (I think) on the third floor were all we had was no hot water. The room was provided with two comfortable beds, and after questions were also Just put up with clean sheets. After checking in we went to walk for something fun, but the city seems a bit of Guayaquil in Ecuador. Large, but nothing to do. We are Bart and Angelique dinner at a very much local tent. There was no beer, have been only lukewarm cola. The food was tasty, but not special, as opposed to the bill. That was ridiculous low, we have including drinks for less than two euros per meal. At the table next to us was a mother with children and their friends are nice and they had shopped. As girls of that age around the world, so they were: a chat. Another settler lukewarm done in the hotel with Oliver and Debbie and ten hours to bed. Tomorrow at half past four, we go to the Komodo Islands.

Monday, July 25

By bus we went to six hours at the port. The ride lasted a half hour, but when we arrived there was a larger boat as normal regulated. In the among more than eighteen were sleeping as the lower beds or double were used. Plenty of space because there are always people on the deck want to sleep. On the boat itself, but once we first went further exploration, There were two toilets with good associated with shower / mandiegelegenheid, so we did not stink. The only thing to criticize what was the urinal. Piet said it from behind by a big crack running out again just as hard. First four hours we sailed under the sun and enjoying a good book. It was also great care of us, there was coffee and tea and you could also just one buy beer or cola. Hours after the first boat we went snorkeling, unfortunately a lot has been broken coral, but there were plenty of fish and other marine animals such as sea urchins to see. After lunch and the snorkeling was like on the Galapagos boat was the case, we were amazed how many goodies they can make in such a small kitchen as a pantry is. Delicious shrimp in batter, noodles, chicken legs, soup and vegetables with rice and of course everything, this time a very special, shrimp crackers. Then the shoes and looking for the Komodo dragons, that's one of the goals of this trip and we were finally on Komodo. When we arrived on the island and Bart camera tickets and the tickets had paid we have a guide with information. One of the comments he was that there was a chance that we would see NO Dragons. It was some time then they often go into the mountains. Beautiful is that we're there for so long flown. Anyway the walk. Along the way we do cockatoos and deer. When we had almost given up and I was convinced that we really do not more went to see the "help" guides but still look somewhere else while We waited. After quite a long wait came a scream from a distance, a guide had a seen. We naturally run towards it, imagine if he was gone We arrived at the spot. Arriving out of breath at the place where our first real lizard we saw was him with a GPS-hat in his neck. (Had she not detect, or was it just for us so much more exciting). The guide said that this had been made to ensure that she could follow what he was coming did between April and October. When we were there he did least not much, after we had taken pictures of the landscape variation, were The guides do their best to let him move and that was tough. Flink poke made sure he ran a few steps, but much was not and it did not come threateningly over. No matter: our first dragon in the "wild" was a fact. Min or more reassured that we still had a view, we continued on our way to via a detour back to the dock to go. When the third guide said he another saw we were off again. This was and still without GPS quite different, although it was less. However, the guides had him at the "right path "to keep us the opportunity to see the lizard. Along the way we still one against, this time without GPS, it looks as though we were the only monitor equipped with GPS had seen a copy so unique. The third monitor was again the guides to the photographers guide, useful for else can you really not that long. After climbing a hill for a Beautiful viewing point (which is never more from), we came back two boats. There was a small problem. Because we were late i.v.m. Our quest was the water dropped so far that our boat more at the dock could lie. Fortunately, real masters everywhere a solution for: he sent the dinky (this time a version with oars instead of one engine). With five of us together we were rowed to the boat, very exciting all in the twilight. Upon returning position of course a cold beer ready for us as adventurers and dinner was served shortly thereafter. Again nothing to be desired. A bit read and then quickly went into the bed.

Tuesday, July 26

We breakfasted on pancakes and bananas for all seven hours ashore on Rinca gone for a walk of three hours. When we walked to the ticket office told me against Thöni they still did not have to pay attention, if dragons at the entrance had no one would buy a ticket. So wrong, there is a long time enjoying the sun to warm up long before we were at the entrance. At the ticket office and surrounding houses themselves there were also two, which again by what poke on the move were available. After the customary photo session of the two we got an explanation of the guide, of course stating that it sometimes could be difficult to monitor lizards seen in connection with the mating season. After the explanation we walked. It was already warm, so it was a good thing We had gone early in the morning. We saw monkeys and buffalo, but no dragons. Until we were on the way, these days it seems our fate to be sure to should give and then when we no longer expect to see a dragon. Suddenly we had a bit back because the rear guide what was seen. Naturally extended to monitor the picture put, imagine that we have no further encounter. Almost at the end of our walk we saw a beautiful young male, He was very photogenic. After a nice walk along paths with overwhelming views we arrived tired but happy (that I know anyway) on the boat back. A bit of danger until we arrived on a snorkeling spot. This place was much nicer than the last, we have enjoyed so extensive. Weather delicious lunch and then another piece of hazards. We saw dolphins and The captain made every effort to get us in a good position to secure them well to see and photograph. Unfortunately this is not really successful, but shows again you can not force nature. After this meeting we have fun anyway quickly to our next island of Flores for a night in Labuhan Bajo. From the port was still quite a distance, certainly the last piece in which we best had to be lifted. We saw at least that enough restaurants and shoe shops were. We had a room at Hotel Felix. We had a nice room (it turned out one of the best) with a normal toilet and two fairly good beds. Unfortunately, the shower inoperative. Suitcases and tossed to first speak to hunt for shoes. The court Lowa starts now even can not detach, and each time the shoes of Debbie borrow. The first store I found a pair of "Adidas" shoes that fit well and I also took it straight away. Cost: € 7.00, although I see how far I get with it. After This aggressive investment we went to Nirvana to the terrace while enjoying drink and a bite to watch the sunset. The latter was against, but the beer was cold and the shrimp in garlic is excellent. We were only not the only tourists on the terrace, it was eventually populated at all by the Dutch. We also have just been talking with a couple of our age. They did everything themselves, and with a taxi. When I heard they were so much more money for the freedom they wanted. That way we get nowhere, then four weeks vacation too expensive. Then we only organized, less freedom, but of course this is what you make of it. Ron and Ans were still eating, we walked together back to the hotel. Since we have a cup of tea made on our porch for the room. The shower the weather appeared to do so, but nice and warm was not there, there was again a button.

Wednesday, July 27

We are resurrected after time to be awakened by the inevitable and by Imam a couple arguing in the room next to us Germans. After a breakfast with one (and two I) banana pancakes, we left for seven hours in a brand new bus to narrow seats. These were apparently built on the bodies of Indonesian people, but we are still thriving Dutch generally somewhat wider. That means So I travel with this bus over the thigh in a half loaded and is not comfortable. Still not complain, it can always be worse. We doorgehobbeld to a tea stop with just a photo stop in between. Then further and we stopped along the road where we were warmly as ever received by the inhabitants of the village, of course accompanied by many children. Arrived in Ruteng proved by Bart chosen restaurant for lunch already another group occupied. So we go but first check into hotel Dahlia. The room was good, not only had a shower but no hot and mandiebak water. After lunch which consisted of the inevitable fried rice, but supplemented with a fish, only Piet is a big part of the group walk. I have to skip this, three hours without toilet on the first day of my menstruation asking too much. The walk was about halfway through rice fields where a large piece smooth and walked up to be. Of course they came through again a village with many children and smiling and greeting people. What struck me was that or more churches were seen instead of mosques. When Piet was walking, I finally used it to inform that no option was for hot water. After a short while there was a girl with a delicious bucket of hot water. I am also like to wallow in it. Furthermore I I just read a bit and put a cup of tea .. Next time, I can happily so bad. When Piet came back, I also arranged for him hot water, then we went to the supermarket gone. Tomorrow we get a lunchbox and there's surely no bread. In the supermarket we bought some cookies and the last two cold cans of Bintang. These we first but after shopping for a rest on the seat of our room drunk. Then, after a short walk through the village ended up with The Bamboo restaurant. Not the most attractive restaurant, a large room with only fluorescent lighting and tables with plastic tablecloths. Piet who took fries were very fat, I was fine goreng noodles. We both had taken too chicken, but was very meager. Along with the beer was not € 6.00, so what do you well actually, especially knowing that the drink more than half of the bill was. Maybe we need to cool, then we probably have money left. For the umpteenth time to bed, I lay there at a quarter to ten.

Thursday, July 28

I've slept until half past six when I woke up. Not by the alarm clock or a Imam, but just because I had slept enough. Piet was still nice to snore, so but what I write. After picking up the bags we went to the this time that breakfast was included in the price of the hotel. This was also notice, file a small breakfast sandwich with jam and some coffee per person and tea. Christ was a little bread bijhalen, but that seemed too asked to, though it eventually succeeded. Call it a continental breakfast and think of London. By loading all the luggage, the driver looked a bit dubious, but after all some fit and adapted the measure anyway. These days we could relax a little, the distance was much smaller than the previous day, about half. Moreover, we days preceding the time pressure because there is a hike was planned. So nice and relaxed, with a photo stop at sawa (again?) and a tea stop where the youth played some was football. Of course the girls stole the show again, girls, blonde and therefore have a nice game to play football. For lunch we also visited a small village into a small factory coconut oil produced. Very fun to watch, but very laborious. Our lunch, tasty fried rice with chicken and prawn crackers, we ate on the beach where we also had some time to walk. It came on the back of the walk just a boat on land and together we admired his catch. After lunch we will even stop for a picture views of the mountains and on to Hotel Edelweiss in Bajawa. The hotel is not overly luxurious, and we certainly have not the best room, but it will be fine. After having been issued, we for a walk. The city seems more like we were on Flores until now been. There is a fairly large market and they have quite a few stores, including for shoes. I had that pretty well Labuhan Bajo adidasss buy it, but were so hard plastic that I probably could not even half an hour to walk, let are a whole tour. Tomorrow after the walk just to see if I change few can find. For now I borrowed the sneakers from Debbie. After our tour of the village, we have dinner at Camelia's, a restaurant next to our hotel. The food was fine, the nice cold Bintang. As this whole holiday already the case, we were back well before our normal holiday time in bed.

Friday, July 29

In time up, breakfast was served at half past six. Delicious with banana pancakes and a chocolate sandwich. At a quarter past seven we went a truck to the start of the walk. In that truck coming was not easy, at least not for me. The apparently missing me anyway agility, and maybe I'm "slightly" overweight. When we had just left the station, there was again a photo stop, I had the idea to guide us to learn how we could best off and boarding. Yet I stayed with a few others, but sit down, I was still recovering from the first time. At the second stop, I am still even basis, you can not sit still. The guide was a lot of explaining. He was (and is) very busy and there, but can also tell a lot about what we all see. After another extremely poor little bump on the road we with a village where it was dried cocoa beans and vanilla, just mats along the road. After explanation we went for a ride until we arrive at the Bena arrived, the first village where we would visit them to ancestral veneration did. It was all very impressive, although it is a bit like Volendam appeared. Kept so artificially so. On the other hand, it makes sure that have culture, as is the case in Volendam. If this is not specifically for tourists being maintained people would stone building of houses dishes and they would break the ancestral home to that place a playground or something like it. Overlooking the village told the guide on ancestor worship and the special stories about this village. We relax on we can easily look around, some even bought a scarf by the women it was woven on the verandas. After a small donation in the box are known, we go hiking. As always, I walked back and I enjoy walking chat with Bart about everything and then some. By talking, we thought that we just missed a turn when someone from the valley began to cry. Yet we did not feel we had gone wrong, we had not even seen one two split. Just when we had thought that we would be there anyway, despite a different path, we saw The group before us. Also walking we passed a single house in "the middle of nowhere. Since lived a family with grandma, grandpa, mom, dad and a baby. We were greeted with fresh coconut milk, drunk with "jungle straws" made from young bamboo. The father still had just climb the tree. He also explained how he made swords, with a homemade bellows, a most ingenious device. You just do not understand that make people want to live, but that is probably more to me than the people who really do. After a further short walk we arrived at the second village that day. Plane for the village, we saw that something was going on, there was a substantial number of women working with the excavation of land and move to the village. They were a house to build, the whole village helped. After reading the guide, which this time lasted a long time and was almost soporific we went walking around. The men have also helped to hoist the front of the house under construction. Probably would be fine. The traditional pig had been slaughtered, the read hearts and they were already working to cut into small pieces. Some cultures for our strange habits, but that's just the fun of travel and other things. After visiting and helping with building we went into the descent. I got it done for the last fifty meters a dive and another hole in my pants to fall. This is the second all those holiday break goes, so goes it hard. I decided on Bali but to go and look for replacement, on the island was nothing to find. Back at the hotel I asked once again hot water, maybe it works here so. (Later that you still have to pay). While waiting for the warm water we have some nice soup and chips gesnackt. When the hot water will have been We gemandied nice, hot water is quite pleasant. As the first but the hunt for new shoes. I found it in a shop that almost was closing. Of course they wanted me to help. After some figuring and I could fit back € 9.00 deposit for the second attempt buy shoes that could help me further. (Thanks to LOWA). After purchasing this world we are at a restaurant Lucas beer drinking. When we arrived the friend told the waitress that she had severe headaches. I she was two Panadol and the rest of the time assured of cold beer, they loved specially for us back then was a little busier. When Jones and Debbie along we arrived she was treated to a cold beer for services rendered, I was been delighted with her shoes. Then chicken with french fries and ate half past nine we were back in bed.

Saturday, July 30

Again slept woke up. But the ever-present chickens, but we still have good doorgedoezeld to seven hours. The breakfast was tasty and taken peasant with omelette and toast at breakfast nothing wrong. I've adidasss but the owner of the hotel data, maybe they have someone with you happy. At half past eight we left for a travel day. Bart had said to bring our swimsuits, we were stopping at hot springs called STD. Despite the strange name we have enjoyed, but a half hour. Unfortunately we were not the underwater camera with us. As in Israel, we also make pretty pictures without us were afraid that something would happen with the camera. After a cup of tea and a sweet potato, we've gone. Another stop for the lunch in a restaurant and after that half hour to bump Riung. After checking into hotel Pondok appears to be a nice hotel, only the restaurant is so cozy, but we shall come over it. We are equal Gert and Debbie and Ron and Ans went looking for a pub, but it was not easy. Eventually we ended up somewhere. A small restaurant with terrace, somewhere remote. They said cold beer, but the temperature was not absolutely fabulous. The price was Rp. 15000.00, so not so cheap, but We were nice, so do not complain. We took two (just as warm) beers with from a shop that we in the hotel on the porch with the six have drunk. We ate together, accompanied by another group, the restaurant.

Sunday, July 31

We were up early again after a warm night under our terry blanket. At half eight were served breakfast, sweet rolls with jam and a hard boiled egg. The does not, but it is enough. At eight o'clock we walk to the harbor. We saw people have a tombstone laying bricks in their backyard, which is here so the habit. My idea would not, but as always, is the country- point 's country honor. Further to the boat to start with a look at once a colony of fruit bats. There were really hundreds of thousands. Very impressive, Piet was quite nice pictures, even when we were furthest boat. Then we continued our bounty island where we were a lazy day spend. It was a nice ride with four boats, a boat was not too much associated with the weight. When we came ashore was one of the boatmen already starting with three large fish that he could be right on the BBQ threw. Delicious for lunch so well that we do not hate fish. We are equal to snorkeling a lot after we had gone to another side. When we got there the Water went into was actually a bit disappointing. A lot of sea grass and a kind starfish, but not much else. Fortunately, the further we were always beautiful and at one point we came to a right place for the landing where it very beautiful. We have a lot of time spent in the water. After snorkeling, it was boring: a tan do a little reading and extended lunch with the barbecued fish and other goodies that the boatmen had brought. When lunch was eaten Bart asked if there were people who were interested to sea a little further still to go snorkeling, as we say Of course not refuse, so the road again. This time with three boats, there remained a number of people at the beach. The place where we went was very nice coral and a lot more fish than the previous spots. At one point we saw large blades of a small cave , but we could not see what it was. We saw Ron and asked if he once wanted to watch, he had fins and could easily immersed. But he got no visibility and the blades were suddenly gone. What we do have seen a trumpet of at least 1 meter and many puffers. So Beautiful all. Half an hour after our snorkeling trip on the high seas, we took the boat back to the hotel. When we arrived one of the boat boys handy stick to punt without looking to address. I was obviously in the wrong spot because I got back right on my nose. It was good that my lenses had my glasses had probably gone through my nose. Upon arrival came first for the birthday cake Tini. Then we took enjoy a beer on the porch. We have eaten together in the hotel, the others all went to the same restaurant. For us they had the special table covered with double portions. Next to us was also a Dutch couple, they were 58 days on the road and just followed our route.

Monday, August 1

A travel day, we went after a good breakfast on the way to the convent where we would go to sleep. The road was terrible, but fortunately we have a very good driver. We stopped for coffee and tea in a very shabby tent, Bart even told that there were not much worse. As we drank tea, which is still always well cooked, but we think. Across the street I bought some bananas and tangerines. After tea we went further and stopped at a beach pebbles filled with beautiful colors. They were there even collected and sorted to be exported. They were mostly used in expensive Italian floors. Later than expected we arrived in Ende. We have seven people ate at the local Chinese restaurant. Although the weather was fried rice and noodles, but very good. After dinner we went on the market. We saw nothing fun to to carry, but a little further, the vegetable and fish market which was nice. We saw that an Indonesian for a fairly large fish anyway Rp. 10.000,00 pay, which is approximately € 1.00. A bargain, you could easily with a family food. On the way to the bus we had with a former military KNIL spoken. Back in the bus and another hour drive to our overnight stay in Detusoko Wisma Francis Monastery. We were welcomed with coffee and tea but we have our convenience drunk. It was already too dark to go outside, in addition it had just rained. After tea we went to our rooms, which are very basic. There is no toilet or shower in the room, but a joint facility, natural again without hot water. For a great night, but rather not. The beds were too hard, but with a mosquito net. I have located a moment, was suddenly exhausted. Then we had dinner that was just fine however. A buffet, not extensive, but enough. After dinner were singing and dancing performed by children the orphanage that was attached to the monastery. Quick to bed, tomorrow (or actually tonight) the alarm goes off.

Tuesday, August 2

To 02.15 hours (yes, yes we will do what) the alarm went off for what an exciting day would be. With coffee / tea and biscuits first but once something small inside worked. Then armed with packets of breakfast we went (the first long piece by bus) to the Kelimutu volcano. When we arrived we go in the dark running and we have done about twenty minutes to get to the top. Was heavy certainly not the walk, the last piece went with stairs, so it was time to rest, but otherwise there was nothing wrong. Up there we have to wait for the sunrise, but it went well while enjoying a glass of tea made by the vendor had been upstairs. The sunrise was beautiful, but also the view of the crater lakes, one green, one brown and one black. The latter was still enveloped in mist, as we have longest waiting, and ultimately not really seen without fog. Unfortunately Bart's camera in many confusing situations we forget that still lay down the bus. We have some photos later but put on CD and to given him. When we got downstairs we had eaten our breakfast, that was a very scanty white bread with cheese and jam. Fortunately there was also a hard-boiled with egg, so it was still adequate. By bus before we walk an hour were making. The pace was again quite high, so we went to rest at a waterfall not too early at the place of destination are. We had better not do it, Bart and Tini are there common stabbed by a large species of wasp. After the walk we had lunch in Moni, all polyps goreng with a drink. We sat comfortably on the terrace and ordered a beer. The was just not a record, it was "already" 10.20 and the past has sometimes been. Roel arak-ordered a coke, but that was the other way round. It looked like tea, so light was he of the rack. After lunch doorgehobbeld a very bad road, here on Flores it is not all that well, but that part of it. At half past two we arrived at our hotel in Maumere, half hour earlier than the schedule. As Bart heard while waiting in the rooms that the flight which we next day to Bali would not proceed. But then he settled same day that we could fly. That meant a welcome drink swallow back the bus to the airport. Yet could the people of hotel us friendly goodbye. Probably get their money anyway and make them do this more often. Arriving at the airfield was not entirely clear what time we would leave for four hours or five hours. It was five hours and a propeller aircraft, a Fokker 27 Friendship, "but" 35 years old. When Bart that heard he was so happy and he dragged us into his enthusiasm. Unfortunately The flight lasted a half hour or so longer, but the fun was all not less. Certainly not when we heard that there is a group already had three days waiting for a flight to Bali. We were still a light meal on board, Anything still slept and the time flies. In Bali we were met by the tour operator us a great coach to our cool Hotel Swastika Bungalows brought. Here we stay three nights and it's great. Large room with two super-sized beds, air conditioning, bath and hot water. After refreshed, we went to dinner at a nearby tent. Here again life, so it was taken later, despite getting up early and tiring day. Delicious shrimp and pepper steak with fries. At half past eleven we lay in bed, then as usual on this holiday.

Wednesday, August 3

Featured Sleeping up to seven hours, getting up early went apparently. First I have a nice gesukkeld and some reading on the porch. At nine o'clock we had breakfast, which was included and good. Then we first speak to a taxi arranged for the next day, we will then do a small circle Bali, so we sniff some culture. Then we relax walked around, I finally had some pants buy. So the first known art, where she is really only souvenirs and clothing. When we arrived at the square I was met by a Balinese woman asked to go to number one shop. I found that I myself could determine, but she continued to haunt us but. Even when I was in the pants Now was she kept nagging, so for me there no reason to go. After I had bought everything and left the square again she told me that this is not the custom was in Bali. When I terugzei that I have to decide where my money publishing, she told me coolly that I then only had to do in my own country, but here I had to adapt to the customs of Bali. Then I but no More information reply, I was pretty tired. Even then, when leaving the square a man a drink kiosk told me what she started at the man on our to grumble. Then we only laugh heartily, all it is funny when you see how people are worried and then reach the opposite. As a coffee break at the Mango Bar and walked again. Dined we get to a restaurant where we evening wanted to eat, Piet had a wonderful Sweet and Sour soup and I an excellent salad. Again on the road, until we Leon and Fokko saw in a supermarket. They were busy burning a CD, along with Roel and Trudy. It seemed also a good idea, it seemed that we did not the memory would have us. So we have a few CD-litter eager to make some space if need arise. During wait, I bought a Fanta. Upon opening it I saw a chicken feather, so tin that I gave it back. For Bart, we then burned a CD, he had after all, no pictures of the sunrise and the crater lakes of the Kelimutu volcano. We also have in the meantime the roll of film from the marine unit to show develop. It was as though Piet does not predict much, because we no fins did he could not get close enough. We have coffee and iced coffee in yet another tent, we are still looking for nice tents. There was not much, so we decided to go to another Across the street going to look or what was at Lotus Pond. That was it, but the prices were a lot higher. Actually, that may sometimes, after all those shabby tents and simple .. The beer was good, cooled in a wine cooler at the table and twice as expensive as normal, but with love poured. After lugging all that (we were four times up and down the main street run) we went back to the hotel for a nice hot bath. The laundry was also charged in the meantime, so it was all okay. Then we are, I my new pants, have dinner at Lotus Pond. That was what kind of costs hand. Cocktail advance, bottle of wine and a drink at the coffee is not cheap. Overall, the bill was Rp. 700,000.00, for a small fortune here. A third was for the food, so the ratio was quite like this anywhere. We have have done a nightcap in a bar near our hotel which combines both Ans and Ron Roel and Trudy and Ineke joined. After they left we were still a beer taken together and a chat. When we arrived at our hotel we have fifteen minutes with Roel and Trudy are talking, they have the room next to us and some were sitting outside on the porch. And then to bed ...

Thursday, August 4

We stood up to his time with our private driver and explore the island what Balinese culture sniffing. At a quarter to nine we left our Eddy driver. First we were by him to a room where a tourist attraction Barongdans was uitgevoerd.De price was very high Rp.100.000, 00 but it was highly worthwhile. The family was there, they were a little surprised at where they had ended, so it we were not alone. After the great show we brought to Goa Gajah, the rock temple. That was very beautiful, especially the outside of the temple itself. There was a big elephant in carved. On the inside were a few relics in three alcoves. The complex itself was nice although not very big. As the next stop doing we have a silversmith to, of course also features a large store where we (Almost obviously) bought anything. He brought us to Mount Eddy Manta Kali for lunch in an expensive, but empty restaurant. To the "field" of the mountain to come if we first have entrance pay, which I had not fully understood, but maybe that was yet to come. The restaurant was definitely room for three hundred people, but we were there with his two until there are four people died. From the beginning they tried to move us to take the buffet, but we did not fancy. and sign and mie goreng a beer were enough for us. Actually, we are on an expensive place to dumped, but there was a nice view. After having delicious dinner we walked back to the starting point, but soon Eddy was driving behind us. When we boarded and were just a bit further drove we saw that he really had come to our rescue, there were two tourists completely surrounded by very annoying salespeople. We drove quiet visit Keneh Temple, one of the oldest temples. Very nice especially the entrance was very impressive. When we were there was no one else and So we could quietly walk around and look at all the old, but also the documents already been restored. In some places gave it a very strange effect. Then we went to the temple Beshaki gone, a huge temple complex. Since we had the pushy guides us almost literally turn. The "Well-meaning" our premises or in the complex were included in guide Initially not much that we would prefer to walk around. Finally got nevertheless to quietly walk around and then suddenly we could simply people talk. When we first arrived we were asked to bring a sacrifice and when we said you did not want us to have been clearly stated that we were not welcome in that part of the complex. Then we're back!. On the way to the exit we met a French couple on. They had been at age and for the first time since retirement for a long time from home. All chattering we walked down, until suddenly all processions took place. People with offerings, beautifully decorated and the inevitable kids. We have since our first sacrificial pig seen, it was not sex, but already at bamboo poles to the top nominee. We have been watching for a while and when the complex failed, it was this good. Eddy, we have a beer (He of the energy drink) drink before we commenced the return to our hotel. Along the way we stopped at another temple, but we are not entered. A stop at a beautiful viewpoint was missing, of course not. When we were back at the hotel we paid a very large Eddy tip given, he finally got us a good day delivery. At half past seven layers so we go swimming. Once we were clean and fresh, I but once in our laundry out, which turned out not to be there. I stopped very made clear that it was not my fault that it was late and was retrieved I wanted him back the next morning, clean or dirty. We had to carry out to seven hours to leave. The laundry was found to be closed, not my problem they regulate it. We have just burned a CD of the second memory of Pierre and were then dinner at Alise's. There we were welcomed with a flower, a welcome drink and a piece of warm bread. Quite different from the lunch is. We had a delicious dinner, I could not agree on the seafood tempura. After a cup of coffee coffee we went back to the hotel where there was once (and clean it) proved to be.

Friday, August 5

After a hectic breakfast for some one else for everything and we have to quarter past seven went to the plane for our flight to Sulawesi. The ride went well, in Makassar was the bus already waiting for us to transfer to our long Sengkan. The transfer was so long that we will even trucker had lunch in a restaurant. We saw a growing range of mosques, apparently we were in Muslim countries. Except that we saw the typical Toraja houses, it seems not even just for tourists and cultural heritage, but for real use in everyday life. We also saw more flags in various colors and shapes, these were probably for the release party on August 17 Arrived in Sengkan in Hotel Pondok Eka we thought it would be nothing. The room was however beautiful, with new beds and a large bathroom with hot water. Perhaps we are lucky that we were on the first floor, the rooms there were brand new. The right wing of the floor was not one off, so you could under the stars sleep. After checking in we quickly packed another bag, we'd take a boat trip on a small lake. Arrived at the quay were four of us in a boat and we sailed down the river to the lake. We came to indeed some birds, but the trip was more fun than we've seen birds. Somewhere in the middle of the lake was also a floating village. We have tea and delicious baked bananas eaten throughout the holiday. We were so warmly welcomed and guided told us all sorts of facts about the lives of people in the floating village. After the visit we sail back to the hotel, it became pretty dim, so a bit of hurry was. In the same twilight we saw a lot of birds flying, presumably en route to their sleeping. Back at the hotel showed a power failure but that did not stop us from the taking a beer. When it all seemed to go a bit longer time if thought we took the entire group under the guidance of the guide at a local Chinese restaurant to eat. There was a low, although not exactly the most pleasant tent of the city. I chose the wrong noodles, it was crisp (actually raw fried) and also the wrong chicken (it was terribly hot, just not to eat). On top of that we had also to do with soft drinks, beer was not available. Actually, only the tasty satay. When it appeared that they pay just about any account had an error created, what we have learned right anyway. Back at the hotel we took a nice cold beer and a candle up. At ten about ten o'clock the lights went on again and at half past ten, my light, so bedtime.

Saturday, August 6

After a nice hot shower we had breakfast with a fried egg. For eight hours We continued to Tana Toraja. Before we actually went a long stretch drive we first went to visit a silk weaving, and of course the inevitable shop. Then to Rantepao, the capital of Tana Toraja, the where we would sleep for four nights and our base for a number activities would be fun. Along the way we have walked a bit along the way the long bus ride and what to stop to stretch our legs. It was nevertheless downhill, so it was not even tired. The lunch we enjoyed in a small restaurant along the road as a "landmark" a cock and a raptor chained to the railing. Not really nice to see, certainly not the bird of prey, he saw all kind above the valley and could not fly away. The rooster had apparently less difficulty, he ordered the data chips and rice taste good. Then after lunch we really drove the Toraja country we went under a large gate by, of course, the specific architectural style. We are still here got off to the "border" on foot to stabbing. You could climb the gate and that have We of course failed, we are finally here in all likelihood only once. We saw the typical Toraja houses, it seems not even just for tourists and cultural heritage, but also to really use in everyday life. Naturally, there again the necessary pictures, but that is over, too. Along the way we stopped several times for photos, even for a time Piet alone. During the ride was, however, that more and more outdoor flower pots were that we had not seen so much in Indonesia, each region so Indeed, his own habits. After about an hour after the last stop we were at our hotel Indra I. Nothing at all wrong with that, with bath and hot water. Moreover, it is also beautiful hotel and is just another middle of the city at all stores. After checking in we are only a right to explore the city, we first walked on with others, but who went on gemakje shopping. Not bad, but we would like to check our mail and so walked. We have here a mail sent home to let them know that we are still alive and well network. There was an email from Piet and Hennie arrived, they had from China written, so that is again very nice. After the Internet are done We walked a little further and we found Gazebo restaurant. We have nice chatting with an English / French couple that way for awhile was. When the couple left because they had another appointment, we continue down and we did a beer. Although I was dressed and we really expose no grease had with us anyway, we stayed for dinner. Piet had a delicious noodles goreng and gado-gado me one that looks a bit silly, but ultimately but tasty. Back at the hotel we first across the restaurant what the hotel heard a beer made. Then we have our own hotel lobby also made a nightcap with Bart and Angela. Meanwhile there was a huge downpour down, but we were still inside. Some of our group yet, they came hard runaway and / or wet inside. We have slept.

Sunday, August 7

After a very good breakfast we left for nine hours for a tour along the cultural highlights of the area of Rantepao. First we look at the market of Bolu. These were not only fruits and vegetables, but there was also a cattle market underway. We have many beautiful and probably expensive popping buffaloes seen but above all pigs. The latter were tied down to a kind of bamboo rack, obviously that makes transportation easier. The pigs themselves found it probably less, given the noise that the animals produced. We then also went over the fish-run fruit and vegetable market, you should finally be 've seen everything. What was funny was that they were on the market, the coffee that you also want to buy fresh for your times and sell in cans. On the way back to the vans we have a lukewarm cola drink in a very local tent. The vans we went to Siguntu, Torajan a traditional village where we were given an explanation the guide, unfortunately a lot of really lame jokes in between. Having beautiful photos of the village have made we went to our Lemo the first meeting specifically used by this people and their graves Tau-Tau dolls. Very impressive, well, we the viewers had brought so we could see every detail. Again an explanation by the guide, this time as serious and therefore in our opinion better. After a while the busses for a FOX-ride to our lunch. Was very tasty, soup, main course and rice, vegetables, buffalo meat and chicken in bamboo. Accompanied by a cold beer was again fine. Enclosed with fruit and round the belly again. Unfortunately, the ride to the Next stop long enough for an after-lunch nap, that was pretty good was after a heavy meal, but is increasing. The life of leisure is not always easy. Our next stop was Kambira, a place with a baby boom, a real tree and not The popular word for many babies in a given period. These have babies buried as they died so young that they still had no teeth. The story was that the souls of the babies through the growth of the tree grow towards heaven. After viewing, interpretation and taking pictures of these rather special way we are buried in a royal tomb in Suaya visit. Course also in the rocks carved with Tau-Tau dolls, this time also the originals. From there we walked a bit to Tampang Allo, a cave which many blunt, skulls and single houses (a kind of coffins) layers. There we were guided by local youth who fit us well. Later it was not entirely free, and they wanted money. Unfortunately, since no one starts of this group. They got some candy and finally they were there too satisfied. Along the walk back to the vans we passed a number souvenir stalls and we have bought two dolls for our glass shelf. Back in the hotel was ready with coffee and tea and a snack we got a briefing on the next day. We go to a ceremonial funeral YES!. It is appropriate that we as a group to donate a pig, takes a big rib of Rp. 1,700,000.00, but that is also in no € 10.00 per person and I have at least forward. After the briefing we spent here both located in the bath and have some pictures erased in case we would have run out of space (everything is still on CD). We together in the hotel restaurant to eat french fries had been a while Piet on his list and we had seen the day before by Gertjan they were good. After dinner we made two afzakkertjes on the porch of our room and went the light is locally (at us) off.

Monday, August 8

First, once again a good breakfast in the hotel and then made two vans a piece of the mountains. We are going to walk two hours. Of course we make a move number of photo stops, it's also very beautiful. except the usual rice fields There are also harvesting and digging people with and without Tau Tau just puppets in the rice fields and along the road. The walk itself was of course through villages and rice fields (It is still very nice) but because it was so slippery everybody did his best to sit to stay and we had little opportunity to really look. Therefore we but of course a few times but stopped. For me it was extra Indonesian annoying because on my shoes was not too strong, a real profile there was not and they were so slippery. Back from the walk we had less than one hour to eat. Knowing that the time for you to pull out we decided to go get a sandwich shop and more broth and tea. Armed with black and dressed in a sarong that our guide had we went with the regular buses to the ceremony. Most of us had different clothes and shoes done, but we got a bit of regret. We were from the parking of the vans still twenty minutes walk to the real ceremony, and that was more like the morning slither through the mud. How would be here in the rainy season are ????. We did get compliments on our way appearance, our sarongs are so greatly appreciated. The site itself was very busy, though on arrival at the place where we formal notification. When our Bart that if we had settled into the main square where all activities were held. The ceremonial village is especially for this opportunity to build, so it is no surprise that the funeral was postponed one year, it costs quite a bit. The person for whom the ceremony was rigged was a significant man in the region and there were also many visitors. Anyone with a donation gave a special way was received. When we turn for our donation to the family we were asked to give our pig to offer. The was driven by our four men Fokko, Christchurch, Gertjan and Piet. By loud cheering (positive), we were announced as the Baobab group and led the men's the pig to the center square. The rest went in procession behind, along with also a group of Indonesian people. It felt very special, you really do them. The procession was, like all guests led by a severe looking man, flanked by some very well dressed and made-up ladies. We were assisted to the reception area, where men and women were separated. We had tea or coffee and a cigarette for the men, the ladies a betel nut and the tourists (we is) a treat. After tea and a chat to try to enter into what is becoming difficult i.v.m. the language we went from the lobby and we were considered pig slaughter of our own to attend. It's not a pretty sight, but can hear better for it. After the beast through a stab in the heart was slain was removed and allowed a bamboo tube made to the family hand. It was not easy, the butcher had trouble finding the stomach and He had to elbow his way past the pig and protective gloves, so they are never heard. Not great to see so and so Piet has only seen his camera and then his face was not entirely happy. Want to see how the hair was singed off over a fire and the beast was ready to to be cut. Half of the group had at that time completely had and wanted to return to the hotel. The other half would rather stay a little and therefore we have an hour to consider the hassle. We also saw other Tourists dressed in shorts and tank top. It's really all rules of decency beyond. It is perhaps not your sorrow, but a bit of appropriate clothing allowed. After an hour we went with the rest of the group also went back. In the hotel we had a sit down chat with a cup of coffee and tea, we were well cared for here. I had a slight headache from all impressions, but We have dinner at Ríman, very early in the afternoon because we obviously had no success. At the restaurant but unfortunately they had a cold beer, but we had it in time for the briefing on the trek. The food was otherwise good. The briefing was short and clear. We heard that five and possibly seven people it would not go. Ineke, Ans and Ron Roel and Trudy and Gert possible and Debby, Gert was well ill. We have some soup and Debby our immersion data for Gert, maybe he snapped fast enough. Together we have taken a beer in the hotel restaurant, we had no sense more to walk.

Tuesday, August 9

We started the two-day trek, but without Gert was too ill. Debbie was too bad, but would not stay overnight. We went to nine hours away (it's all very relaxed), half course hour with a van, we are now quite used to it. The walk was through rice fields and villages, it's still fun. Sometime in January was one of a dike on but otherwise there was not much done in the context of falls or injuries. Around eleven we made a cup of tea or coffee in a local roadside tent. The packed lunch boxes we ate at a family on the lawn. The lady house made tea and coffee and was happy with the scraps of the nasi goreng. She gave to the pigs and it saved just one day run again. Having rested for in the sun we continued on our way to our overnight place. We really only have the afternoon water stops done, it was just nice walking. it was not too hot and it seemed as occasional sunshine, but the was generally partly cloudy. So delicious, sometimes a bit heavy, but that does not hurt. Fifteen minutes before we arrived at our destination I was stretched out in the mud. We were calling and woman climbed a hill through a small detour on private property easier to walk. The normal way was ie become a quagmire. When our guide called us back because he thought that we should not so much that I slid downhill, so in the mud. The So not looked back, pants completely covered in mud and only one for me. Arriving in the village (with three houses) where we would sleep, I have a short Leon borrowed pants and washed my pants. It was not easy, hot water was not there and he was really under way. The fall I had the right to a Bintang was cold and then after the wax for me. After the first beer We divided the beds. Piet and I were in the front room of the Torajahuis, overlooking the central square. Leon and Thöni had the other room and Gertjan slept on the landing. The rest was charged to the rice barns were covered with sheets to the wind and the mosquitoes outside. After the shower (B. ..), a campfire was lit and dinner served in the living room of the family we were visiting. There were also two-Tau Tau dolls, a strange sight, but that they will do it against theft. eating was fine and certainly sufficient and was of course concluded with tea and coffee. Then we had a drink by the campfire under the supervision of a local "boy band" with guitars. Lianne also has some bananas in the campfire roasted, opinions were very divided about the taste, but it was fun. At half past ten we went to bed after a nice but fairly tiring day.

Wednesday, August 10

The second day of trekking, we were awakened at six hours of crowing roosters and Another mob was making some noise. We had a quiet night behind back, except that we went at a quarter past two ponds and Piet almost the whole house woke with a flapping door. We began the day with a breakfast fried rice with egg. Piet had a sandwich and hard boiled egg, so they did it as typically Dutch. After breakfast we went to the candy handed out to the young ones and say goodbye to Angela. Who went back to the van because she was not feeling well. The same van had just brought back Debbie, so which was also nice weather with it. Lovely fitted out again, in a clean diaper, that feels a lot better. The band was still a little wet, but that would soon refurbishing. Walked through rice fields, villages and whole pieces of gravel roads. As usual I was walking back, Pierre continued to hang back so as he could help me on the difficult bits. I'm not the only one who suffers emerged during the day very clearly. He was terribly through January, while I not really tired. What we found was hindered by very narrow bamboo bridges. Bart even had there not broad and could use some help use, we keep everyone happy all people with its own angstjes. Along the way a woman has coffee and tea for us and put arrived around half past twelve we arrive at the Tau-Tau site a few days earlier we had already visited. This time without fallen. The busses were already waiting for us. In the hotel we first have showered and then we went to Mambo a delicious tomato soup eat. Soon the dinner that night ordered Mart's cafe, we were there our last meal together as a group and also thank Bart. It was still early so we took a quick picture of the mosque and have a drinking beer in a restaurant en route. When we arrived at the supermarket for some water and snacks before it started to pour terrible. We have the staff to the great amusement of both appropriate and bought a poncho and went right back to the hotel. Fairly dry (on the shoes after then) we home in our hotel. Here we have a cup of coffee, which had Debby cut her some stuff because we had borrowed for Gert. In the Meanwhile I prepared the speech. The text of our parting song was also distributed, so nothing stood in the way of a pleasant evening. So we went to the restaurant on time and have eaten first. Of course I had ordered too much, but it was all very tasty. After dinner we first song sung to the tune of Do You Want Me. Then I started spoke to Bart and I thank him on behalf of the entire group and its envelope hands. Bart was very impressed and gave his answer in a compliment to the group because it is a tight group, but was nice and loose been. When everybody was gone, Bart, Angelique and we still sit chat and then walked back to the hotel. We did a settler done and the last bottle of beer from the hotel Bart shared.

Thursday, August 11

We set off to Makassar and actually a bit on the way home. At a quarter past seven we drove away for a long travel day. There was just no time for a tea break because we had a truck moving again, who was unlucky on a viaduct (which also ran down a bit). We had to get out and very strange I thought that I had to take along your travel documents. Imagine that the bus flipping the paper and could not currently be salvaged, then we were without our paper and I will be happy you do not. Initially tried it with another truck on a tow afloat, but cable snapped quickly. Our men have with their local population forces to show utmost to make sure that the truck a bit along side the bus came along and could. By loud cheers from the driver drove our bus past the truck, it was still touch and go. When the bus along we could go riding with a tea stop first stop In the restaurant with tied cock and prey that we used to even a had lunch. In the meantime, the driver tried to stop for refueling, but was not easy, a lot of stations were apparently already sold out. For our second FOX-lunch we had a little bit further, but it was a nice fish menu in a fancy restaurant, where you drive through for a while. After lunch we head drove to Makassar, arrived there we found we Citra Wisata hotel in a small room to have, but with everything necessary. Delicious showered and then set off for a drink and eat. When we in the chosen restaurant arrived there was no place where we wanted because there are two large tables for groups covered. When we left was there is still a table was constructed and could suddenly move large tables. We have a lovely meal, it was not as fancy as we're used to during our last night together, but also cozy. There were also a number of people within the group, but they were sitting at other tables, so we were good together. After dinner we went back to the hotel and after resting for a little back crept back into town to find a nice pub in the hotel was not. We have not found the stall where Bart had been so enthusiastic about were moved and there was just a lot of noise, and besides, they had no beer. Alternatively, two terraces with live music, but was played so loud that you could not sit quietly. We eventually but a few cans of beer in a supermarket and bought in the room drunk.

Friday, August 12 / Saturday, August 13

In the afternoon we would go flying, but the morning until half past two Fri We have I slept, feathered and very leisurely breakfast at the hotel. We were almost turned away because it was over breakfast at ten hours and the man of the cleaning department also wanted to do his job. We visited Fort Rotterdam also given the associated museum. After our cultural trip we went in the same restaurant as the night before lunch, the shrimp were delicious again. Back at the hotel we showered and nice the rest of the bags packed. At half past two we went to the airport for the first of our three flights today. Had a drink and candy and a book purchased to really get rid of our rupees. The first flight went well and We arrived earlier than expected in Bali. That was good, we did not really much transfer time and still had our luggage check-in. The flight to Singapore was very successful, good food and have the eyes closed. We had Singapore Airport just a lipstick and some time to get some drink and then we had already boarding. All very good connections so. During the long Flight I, after a light meal, a good four hours sleep. Piet do not sleep a wink. When I awoke, I see where it was and when I caught him with the toilet block. He was there all the people Dutch group and other tourists with whom he has been talking under enjoying one or two beers. I put together for a drink with him and went went back to my place for a movie to watch. All in all a long travel day, but for me to do it. When we arrived at Schiphol Airport, we goodbye and agreed that we would see each other at the reunion. Soon the traditional fries before the train came, and even that went smoothly. We had a great connection, no lag and the coach did not last. Next time we dare to make public transport.

In conclusion: great trip, great group and again full of impressions. What's next ?????

On October 2nd we went to the reunion. We were as we had agreed Welcome to January and Tini. After a warm welcome and everyone was drunk we have coffee. Then it was obviously time for the photographs, we have a lot seen. Fine is you do not need anyone to explain what everything is, we had finally seen everything. Everyone was there, Bart just could not, that night he had returned from a trip and just could not afford. After the photos the promised meal, in January, Tini and Christchurch were very hard done. It was very nice and very cozy. Around half past eight, everybody went home. It was the perfect end to a wonderful journey.
